The history of Kırşehir Municipal

The municipalism is very deep rooted in Ottoman State and this was ensured in classical period through cadis (muslic judges). Modernization activities widely spread by Tanzimat Reform Era caused modern municipalism understanding come to the rise in Istanbul in 1854. The municipality laws enacted in 1864, 1868, 1871 and 1877 after establishment of municipality institution in Istanbul, the activities of municipality were institutionalized and many municipality organizations were formed in that era in many cities. Kırşehir Municipality is one of those deep rooted municipalities established in 1870 after such laws came into force. The activities carried out by Kırşehir Municipality since its establishment even with very limited budgets availed to World War I and National Struggle. After success in National Struggle, zoning activities were started particularly in Ankara and adjacent cities with the proclamation of the Republic. Municipalities assumed VI greater responsibilities comparing to previous years for carrying out zoning activities in the first years of Republic. However, the restrictions to this situation were limited budgets of the municipalities and the fact that municipality laws still in effect were those remained from Ottoman State. The Law of Municipality numbered 1580 that came into force in 1930 ushered in a new age in Turkish Municipalism. Kırşehir Municipality has been carrying out its activities actively since 1930.
