Style in short film: Application movie "The Last"

The art of cinema needs innovation and variation like all other forms of art. The way of innovative approach in cinema passes through a good understanding of the concept of style. Style, which can be defined as the artists way of using technique, means his/her control over the five basic element of a film, narrative form, mise en scene, cinematography, editing and sound. The concious choices made on these elements create director's unique style. As it is open for experimenting new techniques, original and creative form of cinema, short film is a rich area for new style studies. It is important to make style studies in this area. In this study, the relationship between style and technique in short animation is investigated. The characteristics of animation which distinguish it from live-action cinema due to the flexibility provided by the production method are searched. Also the advantages and strengths of short film compared to the feature film are examined. Based on these researches, short film animation cinema samples were examined and the relationship between technique and style was emphasized.
