Calculation of optic and electronic properties of quantum wells for different potential profiles

Abstract (EN)

İn this thesis, the electronic and optical properties of quantum wells were calculated for different potential profiles. Moreover, in this thesis, subjects such as finite and infinite quantum wells, Schrodinger equation, conductivity and valance band were mentioned. In this thesis, optical and electronic properties of quantum wells for finite square potential, harmonic oscillator potential, Pöschl-Teller potential, Razavy potential, Wood-Saxon potential, Rosen Morse potential, Helman potential and Kratzer-Fues potential are calculated and explained. Calculations were performed in computer environment by means of Python software program. Matrix equations were obtained by using the finite difference method in the calculations. Graph of different energy and wave functions were plotted for each potential profile. Moreover, in calculations, a few properties of the quantum well were changed and the results were explained. The usage purposes of these potential profiles were given in a wide and comprehensive way in the thesis.
