The progress of turkish foreign policy in the context of the Cubacrisis

Cuba Missile Crisis which made face off two bloc leaders USA and USSR seriously for the first time at The Cold War Period, Likewise Jupiter missiles which USA settled in Türkiye, with emerging of attempting to settle another similar missiles in Cuba by USSR, it became an international problem. The Cuba Missile Crisis, which face off the USA and the USSR, the leaders of the two blocs, seriously for the first time during the Cold War Era, turned into an international crisis with the emergence of the USSR's attempt to place similar missiles in Cuba, like Jupiter missiles which placed in Türkiye by the USA. During this crisis, which confronted the world with the threat of a nuclear war, Jupiters in Türkiye were made the subject of bargaining by the USA and the USSR. The crisis was ended by a compromise after the USA dismantled the Jupiter missiles in Türkiye and the USSR stopped placing similar weapons in Cuba.This compromise emerged again in 1964, during the Cyprus Crisis. The attitude of the USA in a case which closely concerns Türkiye's national interests during the Cyprus crisis was revealed by Johnson's letter. Turkish-US relations, which started to crack with the removal of Jupiter missiles as a result of the Cuba Crisis in Turkish foreign policy, received a heavy blow with Johnson's letter.In this context, Türkiye, which has been following foreign policy on the axis of the West since the Second World War, began to question its position in the international arena. These developments, which led to a change in Turkish foreign policy, initiated the transition to versatility.
