Abstract (EN)
The study, which lasted eight consecutive weeks, was conducted at a publicelemantary school in the district of Seyhan-Adana in 2003-2004 academic year. Theparticipants of the study were 132 students that were divided into two experimental andone control group.For the purpose of this study, two experimental groups were instructed by using?learning together? technique of cooperative learning whereas the control group wasinstructured by the tradional teacher-oriented method.The measurement instruments for the study were ?Science Achievement Test? and?Sociometry Test? both of which were administared as pre and post-test.In this research, the data obtained from the achievement test and sociometry testwere operated by statistical techniques of covarience analysis. The level of significancewas p<.05.As a result, while there was no statistically significant difference betweenexperimental groups regarding total achievement scores, knowledge level, comprehensionlevel and application level scores in the achievement test, there was a statisticallysignificant difference between experimental groups and control group in favor of thecontrol group.Findings from the sociometry test revealed that there were significant differencesbetween the experimental groups and control group in the favor of the first experimentalgroup.
