Evaluation of the potentials of the tiny house as a temporary alternative tourism accommodation place: Antalya/İbradi example

Housing, which emerged to meet the need for shelter, is the first objective example in the history of architecture. It has changed over time, has started to meet many different purposes with the development and use of technology, and has taken different names. Tiny House, one of these names, emerged with the idea of being a home owner at low cost. Supported by the concepts of sustainability and minimalism, examples of practice in the world and in Turkey have survived to the present day. Especially the recent Covid-19 outbreak has encouraged people to stay away from the crowds and lead a quiet life in nature. This situation has increased the preference of portable tiny houses with small spaces. Within this process, tiny house units started to be preferred as an alternative space in the tourism sector in addition to individual housing use. Within the scope of the study, it is predicted that tiny house units can be an effective accommodation solution for alternative tourism. Turkey and Antalya Tourism Strategies were examined and scanned the literature on the subject. The aim of promoting alternative tourism and bringing rural areas to tourism within the scope of the strategy has been a factor in determining the province of Antalya, which hosts the most tourists in Turkey, and its rural district, İbradı, which is rich in alternative tourism for the thesis study area. As a result of the researches and interviews, it has been seen that İbradı District has a high potential for alternative tourism. Restoring the buttoned houses, which are the traditional architectural texture of the region, and bringing them to tourism made the name of the region heard and the development of the local people with tourism. However, these houses are under protection and it has been seen that the accommodation need of the region should be met with temporary space solutions that will not disturb the texture of the district. For this reason, tiny house units, which have portable, reproducible, recyclable, sustainable and temporary use features, were found suitable to be used as an alternative tourism space for the region.
