Problems of small and medium sized enterprises, an example of the Forest Products Industry in Duzce

This study was prepared under the title ?Problems of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, an Example of The Forest Products Industry in Duzce? as a master thesis at the Department of Forest Products Engineering, Institute of Natural Science, University of Düzce.Small and medium-sized enterprises are essential institutions in the competitive environment, for the development of national economy and healthy functioning economic life. The share of SME?s in employment, production, exports, value added and investment is increasing every day.In this study, with "small and medium-sized industrial enterprises" statement, the conceptual framework is drawn to recognize and to define the framework in a good way and try to perform a systematic investigation by doing research in this field. In the economy of both our country and Düzce, small and medium-sized enterprises in forest products industry which has such an important position, is known to have various problems.For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 43 SME which are active in the forest products industry of Düzce. The survey data and issues are addressed to the lack of funding for SMEs as a main problem.Key Words: Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, SME, Forest Industry, Düzce
