Pathological findings of coccidiosis infections in small ruminants and their relationship with dopamine receptors

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the pathological findings of coccidiosis infections in small ruminants from the Burdur region and to investigate their association with dopamine receptors. Materials and Methods: The materials for this study consisted of paraffin blocks from tissue samples of 11 small ruminants under one year of age, which were brought to the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in 2023, and in which Eimeria spp. was detected upon fecal examination. Fecal samples from the animals were cultured and species were identified at the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. Paraffin blocks were sectioned at 5 µm thickness and stained with routine Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) for the recording of histopathological findings. Additionally, standard Avidin-Biotin Peroxidase method was used to investigate the presence of anti-dopamine 1 receptor antibody.
