Professional musicianship in Sivas Poshas in the context of cultural mediation

Thish study which has been conducted to investigate 'professional musicianship' and 'semi-professional musicianship' in Sivas Poshas whose main profession choice is 'musicianship', which differs them from other Poshas, aims to discuss Musician Gypsies, Instrumentalist Romanies in general and Musician Poshas in particular specific to group identity. In addition, in the context of cultural mediation, the study aims to study both 'introvert' and 'extrovert' mediation actions and mediation roles, status, duties and objectives in 'ritual-oriented' and 'non-ritual-oriented' music practices of Musician Poshas. Observation, participant observation, interview, document analysis and etnographic description among qualitative methods have been used in the study to better understand mediation actions, their roles, status, duties and objectives in their 'ritual-oriented' music practices like the rites of passages engagement ceremonies, henna nights, wedding ceremonies, etc. and in scheduled rites and ceremonies like 'Festivals and Glorifications', 'Ramadan Drummer', 'celebration and commemoration ceremonies' and 'Karakucak Wrestling' which they don't attend no more today that is, in their 'ritual-oriented' music practices and 'non-ritual-oriented' music practices like the institutions and organizations which teach folk dances, folk dances competitions, Sivas Belediyesi Mehter Takımı (Sivas Municipality Mehter Platoon), etc. In the light of the information obtained from the beginning to the conclusion of this research conducted to investigate the cultural mediation role, status, duties and aims of Sivas Poshas; it is concluded that Sivas Poshas, who maintain their livelihoods through 'professional musicianship' and 'semi-professional musicianship', are a cultural mediator.
