The effect of cultural differences on technology acceptance: A research on the employees of Anamur municipality

In this study, the effect of cultural differences on technology acceptance was investigated. The "Dimensions of National Culture" developed by Geert Hofstede was used as the basic scale in the determination of cultural differences. Individuals' attitudes towards technology, on the other hand, the technology readiness index developed by Parasuraman and Colby and consisting of 4 sub-dimensions, and the artificial intelligence technology adoption scale consisting of a single sub-dimension prepared by Damerji and Salimi were used. The application of the research was carried out on 123 Anamur Municipality employees who wanted to participate in the study. A questionnaire including items from the literature on cultural dimension and technology acceptance was applied to the research group. Participants' degree of participation in the pre-prepared questionnaire was evaluated with a 5-point Likert scale. The data obtained as a result of the research were analyzed through the SPSS 22.0 and AMONS 21.0 package program. During the analysis phase, reliability and validity analyzes were performed. Then, the research model was tested with the structural equation model. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the cultural characteristics of the individuals partially affect the technology acceptance levels. When the results were checked with the research hypotheses, some results other than those expected were also obtained. Based on the results obtained, the study was completed by making suggestions that the employees of the enterprises and institutions that will use new technologies should pay attention to the cultural differences.
