Abstract (EN)

Turkey's state-centered modernization process, which covers a period of more than 200 years, has brought about a transformation in many cultural elements. The cultural change that occurred as a result of modernization, as well as the interactions that require explanation through sociological dynamics for this transformation, are examined in the framework of cultural personality in this paper. As a result of these encounters, each culture developed its own distinct human type and personality. In this study, human typology shaped by Turkish culture is linked to cultural personality. The period from the Ottoman Empire to the founding of a new state is taken into account on the basis of rupture and continuity, and it is intended to make a cultural reading with the information obtained from sociology, psychology, and social psychology, which are the factors that influence the social interaction process. In this study, modernization in Turkish thought is discussed from the perspectives of Ziya Gökalp, Mümtaz Turhan, Erol Güngör, Fuat Köprülü, İbrahim Kafesoğlu, Niyazi Berkes, Şerif Mardin, Nilüfer Göle, Kemal Karpat and Bozkurt Güvenç who address the topic as a historical and sociological reality. Contributions of their own mentality to the literature in Turkish modernization, different approaches to the same issue; His views on the origin of the efforts to produce identity facilitate the understanding of the process and guide this journey.
