Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to understand the importance of local people in the protection and transmission of cultural heritage. Within the scope of the study, the factors affecting the preservation of cultural heritage were examined and the issue of protection and transmission of cultural heritage was discussed in detail. Although an important literature on the impacts of local people on cultural heritage has been developed, it is seen that the local people do not have a responsibility in terms of sustainability of cultural heritage and it is seen to be open to contribute to this situation. In this thesis study, qualitative research approaches have been utilized based on the question of what are the responsibilities of cultural heritage and the protection and transfer of cultural heritage. In the formation of the data set, the local people who live in the district of Bergama, which has been taken under protection by UNESCO as the Multi-Layered Cultural Landscape Area, was consulted face to face. Research data designed in accordance with the phenomenological pattern were analyzed using the thematic method. Cultural heritage, protection, transfer and responsibility. The findings of the study showed that the findings of the study were consistent with the literature, and the ideas about the conservation of cultural heritage and the sustainability studies should be taken into consideration.
