Abstract (EN)

In the globalizing world, people from several nationalities can live and work together. As a result of the interaction and interdependency among people from different cultures, the importance of cross-cultural communication has to be rethought. This is possible by developing cross-cultural awareness and changing some behaviors in order to respect other people's cultures. The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between having an educational course about cross-cultural communication and people's intercultural sensitivity. The participants are divided into groups as participants who took the cross-cultural understanding course during The Ship For World Youth Program and participants who didn't take this course during the program. Among the participants who didn't attend to The Ship For World Youth Program, people were grouped into who took the cross-cultural understanding and communication course before and who didn't. The data obtained from the scales which were filled by all participants, were analyzed. With having participants from different nationalities, a deeper perspective was provided for the benefits of the education of the cross-cultural understanding and communication. Key Words 1. Culture 2. Cross-Cultural Understanding 3. Communication 4. Cross Cultural Communication
