Abstract (EN)

Semiotics is a discipline that aims to analyze meaningful structures using various forms and scales. Book covers are one of the narratives that hold meaning. With globalization, the reflections of the removal of cultural boundaries are also encountered in the marketing process of cultural products. These reflections are examined based on how and with which elements locally produced cultural products are conveyed on a global scale. Semiotics will play a crucial supportive role in examining cultural data on either a local or global scale. Over time, each semiotician has contributed their interpretations and approaches to semiotics in terms of analysis and evaluation. Therefore, it is believed that considering the interpretations and approaches of multiple semioticians for the examination of cultural elements will provide a deeper perspective both for understanding semiotics and for explaining cultural elements through semiotics. This study aims to examine the importance and analysis of the search for meaning within the scope of linguistics and semiotics, specifically focusing on book covers. For the research population, George Orwell's work "'1984'" has been selected as a suitable sample. The selected sample covers will be analyzed in terms of their graphic language (typography, color, form, symbol). The relationship of the book's cover designs with the work itself and the scope of cultural elements in the global market in the other translations of "'1984'" will be scrutinized.
