Experimental studies on fabric manipulation techniques

Before you lies the thesis "Experimental Works on Fabric Manipulation Techniques"; Notion of fabric manipulation and it's techniques have been explained on the basis of sample works from designers and artists. The phrase "Fabric manipulation" was directly translated from English to Turkish. Since there is no direct dictionary definiton for the "Fabric Manipulation" phrase, the concept has been elucidated based upon the meaning of the word "Manipulation"and literature research within the scope of respective resources. Therefore, all the accessible fashion and textile design books have been analyzed one by one on account of seeking the terms "Manipulation" and "Fabric Manipulation" amongst all written content. During the process of scanning the respective literature, progress and development of the textile design process has been researched, inter-disciplenary works and experimental designs related to textile have been analyzed in order to observe the correlation and impact of the aforementioned topics on the appearance of the phrase "Fabric Manipulation". In the name of better understanding this concept, which holds many techniques and could be defined more than one way, examples from several designers and artists have been provided. Within the context of personal experiments and designs conducted on this study, it has been given preference to follow the methods of heat manipulation. This method was preferred due to the facts that not having to adhere a spesific formula, not to be conducted under hundred percent control, and thus, featuring an experimental nature.
