Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the current study was to investigate the measurement methods used in different resistance tests applied to the woven fabrics in a comparative way. The population of the study consisted of resistance test methods which are of great importance in terms of determining the suitability for the usage purpose and of qualitative production, and the sampling was comprised of test methods used to determine rupture, tearing and bursting resistance tests and also woven fabrics having two different constructions, 100% cotton 2/1 dimity and 2/2 panama, which are applied in these tests. For the rupture resistance tests, 80 test measurements were carried out both in the direction of warp and woof; for the tearing resistance tests, 80 test measurements were made on wet and dry samples in the direction of woof and warp; and 40 tests were made on wet and dry samples for the bursting tests, as 200 test measurements in total. The data of the test measurements were analyzed in the SPSS 17 statistics program. Each fabric type was examined through independent sampling t test with the effect of warp and woof direction on the resistance values in a reliability range of 95% depending on different methods; the relation between the test measurement methods applied for the rupture, tearing and bursting resistance tests each and the quality of the relation between tearing and bursting resistance tests were examined by calculating the correlation coefficient. As a result of the tests, it was found that the relation between warp and woof directions for rupture resistance was high except for single rupture (trousers) method and the resistance values in the direction of warp was higher than those of woof; the relation between woof and warp in all methods for the rupture resistance and the resistance values for the wet samples were higher compared to dry ones; the tests applied to the wet samples in the bursting resistance had a higher resistance compared to dry samples. It was also found that there was a high relation in the test methods between tearing and rupture resistance tests. Keywords: Woven Fabrics, Tearing Resistance, Rupture Resistance, Bursting Resistance
