Abstract (EN)

This research aimed to investigate the process and mineralization of the manganese ore in Kumluca district of Antalya province. Manganese plays a role in steel hardening and durability of iron and steel industry. For this reason, manganese is most commonly used in the field of metallurgy , it has become one of the mine sought together with the increase of that industrialization. Allokton and autochthon units are in the study area of manganese. The Manganese mineralizations are located within the bedrock community known as the Nappes of Antalya, which are alloktonic in the study area. Manganese mineralization in the study area is found in chert and radiolarites in Alakırçay melange in Antalya nappes. Samples taken from the examination area were subjected to thin section, bright section, XRD and chemical analyzes. According to the results of this analysis, low Al2O3 and Fe2O3, high SiO2 and MnO are present. The ratio of SiO2 ranges from 18,90-93,10%. The average value of MnO is 18,03%. According to the various diagrams obtained according to the analysis results, Kumluca region manganese mineralization has been determined to be of hydrothermal origin.
