Özet (EN)

The aim of the study named Investigation of Kumyk Tales in the Context of Monomyth Theory is to show that Kumyk tales are the product of collective accumulation based on the monomyth theory. The study is shaped around the tales extracted from the sources titled Kumıkskiye Narodnıye Skazki (1959), Qumuq Xalq Yamaqları (1977; 1989), Qumuq Adabiyat: 4 (2004), Qumuq Adabiyat: 3 (2005) and Qumuq Xalq Awuz Yaratıvçuluğu: Yammaqlar (2021). Other tales have not been included to establish limitations. The thesis consists of five (5) main sections. In the "Introduction" section of the thesis, fundamental information about the process of preparing the monomyth theory is provided, and a theoretical framework is established for the main sections. In the second chapter, information is provided about Kumyk Literature works based on the principle of narration in Kumyk folk literature. in order to reveal the anthropological, anthrozoological, folkloric, mythological, psychological, sociological, and literary background of the tales examined within the thesis. In the third section, the life and works of Joseph Campbell are introduced, and his contribution to the literature through the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces (1949), where he introduced the monomyth theory known as "the hero's journey," is explained. In the fourth chapter, the tales, which are the subject of the thesis, were translated from Kumyk Turkish to Turkey Turkish. The translated tales have been attempted to be analyzed using the monomyth theory and relevant disciplines of science (such as analytical psychology, archetypal symbolism, psychoanalysis etc.). In the fifth and final section, it has been determined that Kumyk tales are products of collective accumulation, and they share preliminary commonalities among literary works based on narratively produced products. Additionally, due to the absence of a collective study on Kumyk tales within the framework of the monomyth theory in the field of Turkic world literatures, the anticipation is that this study will open doors to new research endeavors.
