Evaluation of some idioms in the Qur'an in terms of translation strategies

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the strategies used within the framework of a Turkish translation of the Qur'an phrases and to analyze the backgrounds of equivalences proposed by the translators. In this study, descriptive method was monitored for the analysis of the current situation and carried out a detailed review of the literature. The translation of Quran and Bible which are creating the population of the study, the study sample is the Qur'an phrases, which will be examined within the framework of ten different meal. In this study, which is applied diachronic approach, is based on the method of literature review. In this context, the previously determined idioms in the Holy Qur?an will be examined structural and semantic aspects in the light of the ten Qur'an translations to be analyzed. The findings obtained at the end of the research has revealed that the Qur?an translators not pursuing a particular method and making use of different strategies in very similar idioms during process of translating. In addition, formal correspondence with the largest percentage among strategies states that the translators of Qur'an have an anxiety to be successful in the translation process. Taking places an intensive way the addition strategy emphasize that the translators do not want to break away from semantic field. On the other hand, the low percentage rate in strategies directly based on message have become an indicator of the translators haven?t used - as far as possible - all the facilities of the target language.
