Textual coherence in the holy Quran as an applied study in "Sad" sura

Textual cohesion is one of the criteria set by linguists to differentiate between the text and the non-text. They have identified a set of tools to measure the cohesion and coherence of the text. If these tools are available in the text, it is cohesive. If, however, they are absent from the text, they are disconnected and scattered, and the characteristic of textuality will be absent from it. This research aims to show an aspect of the linguistic miracle in the Qur'an represented in the coherence of its vocabulary, sentences, verses, and chapters, which contributes to refuting the quasi-skeptics in the Qur'an, and responding to their fabrications. To achieve this goal, this study sought to highlight the textual cohesion at the formal, grammatical and lexical levels. The researcher relied on six of the tools identified by text scholars to measure the strength of text cohesion or not, namely: reference, ellipsis, conjunction, substitution, repetition, lexical association. To achieve these goals, the researcher relied on the analytical descriptive approach, the historical approach, and the statistical approach in his study. The researcher chose Surah (Sad) over other surahs of the Qur'an because it is a fertile linguistic field in which textual cohesion tools abound, in addition to being distinguished by its anecdotal nature, as the stories of some of God's prophets - peace be upon them - were mentioned in them, in addition to being an argumentative textual environment. The study concluded that Surah (Sad) included the six tools that the researcher previously identified. These tools have contributed to achieving textual cohesion in the Holy Surah, in addition to that, the study revealed the cohesion between Surah (Sad) and other surahs of the Holy Qur'an.
