A comparison of Razı And Alusı tafseer's in the context of the relationship with the Qur'an and the sunnah

Razi (d. 606/1210) and Alusi (d. 1270/1854) are two important exegetes who lived in different centuries. Both authors who wrote works in the field of diraya tafseer looked for solutions to the problems regarding religion during the era they lived. For this purpose, they explained the Qur'an which is the primary source of Muslims with the methods of reason and logic while taking tafseer of rivaya into account. The most important methods they used in their works named Mafatih al-Ghayb and Rouh al-Ma'ani are to comment by focusing on the unity of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Razi and Alusi accepted the Sunnah as the most important source of understanding the Qur'an and indicated that it is impossible to explain the verses without Sunnah. The main aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between the Qur'an and the Sunnah through the works of these authors. The study used the methods of review and classification; it consists of introduction, three chapters and conclusion. In this study, first of all, the concepts of Qur'an and Sunnah were explained and it has been tried to reveal the value of Sunnah as a source in the religion. The framework of the relationship of the Qur'an and the Sunnah presented under the headings. Besides, assessments for each section were made. These headings in Mafatih al-Ghayb and Rouh al-Ma'ani are discussed in the context of the topics explained by hadiths and are organized in the order of faith, deeds (orders and prohibitions). Both commentators used Sunnah in explaining the meanings of mucmel, mushkil and mutlak (absolute). Thus, they revealed the importance of referring to hadiths while interpreting religion and guided Muslims in this field.
