Masjid's functions according to the Quran and sunnah

In this study, masjids, which are the main centers of religion and worship, which have an important place in human life since the existence of humanity, are used as the equivalent of temples in the religion of Islam. While considering the masjids, in order to better understand the meaning and message of this concept, which concepts are used for and in connection with masjids in the Qur'an are examined, and the ones with important nuances about masjids are discussed under sub-headings. As a matter of fact, the examination of these concepts plays an important role in determining the meaning and importance of masjids. In order to understand the role that masjids have and play in the life of Muslims, in this study, the mission and responsibilities related to masjids, the construction and reconstruction of masjids, the points to be considered about masjids, dhikr and the situation of masjids in difficult times have been analyzed and interpreted by us. In this sense, a framework is taken as a basis which formed by the missions that Islam wants and advises to be seen in mosques, not the values, responsibilities and missions that the late Muslims ascribe to the mosques. In this regard, the characteristics of the masjids that aim to cause harm, particularly the Masjid-i Dirar sample, were evaluated and attention was drawn to the issue. Finally, the basic functions of the masjids are discussed in the guidance of the Qur'an and the Sunnah which the main sources of Islam. In this sense, the functions of masjids in terms of worship, education, military, diplomatic and social-daily life issues, which are determinative and guiding in the shaping of Muslim community life, have been evaluated. These evaluations were made on the narrations directly related to the subject and the messages that can be deduced from these narrations and concluded in accordance with the purpose of the study.
