The effects of tryptophan applications on strawberries exposed to drought stress

Abstract (EN)
The experiment was carried out in 2023 in the unheated glass greenhouse of Yozgat Bozok University Faculty of Agriculture. Albion strawberry variety was used in their search and these seedlings were planted in 1 litre pots filled with peat:perlite mixture at a ratio of 2:1. Some vegetative growth (leaf area, root length, chlorophyll content, and stem diameter and plant weights) and biochemical (proline, MDA and H2O2) parameters were analyzed to determine the effect of tryptophan treatments on vegetative and some biochemical characteristics of strawberry seedling under drought conditions. While all parameters decreased with drought stress, TRP treatments all eviated this decrease. The largest leaf are a was obtained from seedlings grown under normal conditions (353.37 cm2), while the leaf are a was reduced in those exposed to drough tstress (230.09 cm2). When TRP doses were analyzed, it was observed that only 2.0 mM treatment (364.61 cm2) produced a larger leaf are a compared to the control (272.11 cm2). When chlorophyll content was analyzed, leaf chlorophyll content of seedlings grown under drought conditions (47.20 SPAD) was higher than seedlings grown under normal conditions (44.87 SPAD). 1.0 mM TRP dose increased the chlorophyll content (50.00 SPAD) the most. When plant weights were evaluated, it was observed that growing conditions were effective on fresh leaf and stem weights. Drought stress decreased these weights. Growing conditions had a significant effect on biochemical parameters, while the effect of TRP treatments was in significant.
