Abstract (EN)

Folk stories are a different genre in terms of subject, shape and saying. After the 15th century, saga saying poets are replaced with folk story telling singers. Folk stories were formed by the changing of saga tradition in terms of subject and shape, and were told in in a way particular to Turks. Kurbani, who is the classifier of our thesis topic Kurbani Story, is one of the reputable singers of Azerbaijan lived in 15th and 16th centuries. Among other poets of his period, Kurbani, who established the basis of Azerbaijan classical singing art, has given quite remarkable pieces in almost all genres. Divani, which is a difficult genre for singers were composed by Kurbani for the first time in Azerbaijan. Ashiks Lütfi who compiled Kurbani Story, is a Kars born singer lived between 1930 - 2002. Many poems of Lütfi Aydın, who began telling and writing poems since his childhood, were published in "Kars Eli" and "?stanbul" magazines. Ashiks Lütfi declared that he knew approximately fifteen stories and some of them were classified by himself. Our study is composed of five chapters. Following the "Introduction" section where lives and arts of Ashiks Kurbani and Ashiks Lütfi are mentioned, examination of Kurbani Story is given in the first chapter. The story has been seperated in sections according to episode order and the has been evaluated in terms of its problems. Six specifed episodes have been examined; the occuring date of the story, historical elements in the story, religious, tale issues and story heroes were specifed.iv In the second chapter, "motive" concept which we can define as the integral part of folk stories has been emphasized and the motives determined within Kurbani story were added to the evaluation according to episode order. Third chapter is the section where the poems specifed according to Azerbaijan oral literature verse types are evaluated. It has been observed that the poems in the story which were told as musical ballads give information on their era; and these poems are evaluated under the six specifed episodes. The fourth chapter consists of the text of Kurbani Story. The fifth chapter includes the conclusion and bibliography. Keywords: Kurbani, Story of Kurbani, Lütfi Aydın, folk tale, motive
