The impact of the global energy transition on Turkey's foreign trade

Traditional energy resources are called energy resources that already exist in nature, where people do not make any effort in this formation and whose reserves are limited. Traditional energy sources, which have been important in the development of civilizations throughout history, also have significant effects on the country's economies. Because while some countries are rich in traditional energy resources, some countries are poor in these resources. In this direction; Traditional energy sources, which are not evenly distributed throughout the world, are becoming more and more important in the country's economy, both because they are subject to international trade and because they are an important part of the production process. However, the need for existing energy resources changes depending on social and economic developments, and due to the increasing use of energy and its forms, it causes a transition in the energy used, and this transition is taking place from traditional energy sources to renewable energy today. Turkey is also affected by the energy transition starting from developed countries and spreading all over the world. Turkey's energy import dependency, which is not rich in traditional energy resources, can be reduced by using the potential of its renewable energy and its export capacity will be expanded. In this study, the energy transition in the world and in Turkey from past to present and the reflection of this transition on Turkish foreign trade have been evaluated and the scenarios that Turkey may encounter with the application of Carbon Tax have been examined.
