Global financial crises and their effects on Türkiye

Economic crises have been an inevitable reality since the existence of countries. There have been many devastating economic crises throughout history. The main subject of this study is the financial crises that have a global impact and the effects of these crises on Türkiye. The stud explains crisis and crisis types to understand progressive crises. In the third chapter, global economic crises are explained. How these crises emerged, their causes and effects, and how countries took measures against these crises are explained in detail. In the fourth chapter, three crises' impact on the Turkish economy is explained, and the economic data are examined. In the fifth chapter, the problems seen in the general performance of Türkiye during the crises are examined. The sixth section includes econometric analyses made by taking certain variables on the dollar/TL. It has been observed that the FED interest rate and ounce gold prices significantly impact the dollar/TL in various crisis periods. When FED interest rates and ounce gold prices are compared, it is concluded that FED interest rates are more dominant for dollar/TL parity. In the conclusion and suggestion section, the whole study is briefly summarized, and solutions are offered for the question of how to take measures against financial crises that may occur in the future.
