Abstract (EN)

Climate is constantly changing throughout history due to natural and human impacts. The effects of the climate, which is in a constant state of change, are increasing day by day and therefore the effects of climate change should be well calculated. The aim of this thesis study is to determine whether there are trends in the precipitation, flow, relative humidity and temperature data of the Upper Euphrates Basin by using non-parametric Mann-Kendall (MK), Spearman's Rho, Şen Innovative Trend Analysis (ITA) and Innovative Polygon Trend Analysis (IPTA) methods and to compare these methods with each other. Approximately 50 years of data were used for the parameters in the study area. In the ITA and IPTA methods, trends were detected in the monthly average precipitation data that could not be detected in other methods at the stations. In the monthly average relative humidity data, Mann-Kendall and Spearman's Rho methods detected a trend trend in the decreasing direction only at the Erzincan station; In the ITA and IPTA methods, a trend was detected in several stations. When the monthly average temperature data is examined, the trend in ITA and IPTA methods is detected; In Spearman's Rho and Mann-Kendall methods, an increasing trend trend could be detected only at Erzincan station. In the monthly average flow data, Mann-Kendall and Spearman's Rho methods detected an increasing trend at Karasu and Peri stations; In addition to these stations, ITA and IPTA methods have also detected trends in Murat and Munzur stations. As a result of the findings obtained and the comparison of these findings, it was concluded that ITA and IPTA methods are more sensitive in detecting trends that cannot be detected in Mann-Kendall and Spearman's Rho methods. In the IPTA method, the transition of trends to increasing or decreasing regions and the lengths and slopes of these trends could also be determined. As a result of the thesis study, it was determined that the IPTA method was more sensitive compared to other methods used in the study.
