The effect of global crises on Antalya city macroform Aksu district Çalkaya urban transformation and development area example

The phenomenon of globalization, which has been the subject of debates since the 1980s, results in a country's high dependence on other countries and means that positive and negative conditions developing in different parts of the world affect other countries as well. A global crisis in one country quickly affects other countries. In this process, Turkey is also faced with the reflections of the crises on a regional and global scale. The hot war period that broke out in 2022 between Russia and Ukraine right after the COVID-19 Pandemic, which affected all countries of the world, also affected Turkey, which is its maritime neighbor. This thesis examines the formal effects of urban growth on the macroform of the city in Antalya, which ranks second among the provinces in terms of the increase in the number of foreign migration and residence in Turkey, which has been negatively affected by the global crises. It is extremely important for local governments to produce information-based policies in terms of urban management and sustainability of resources, especially in the periods when the urban growth process develops rapidly. For this reason, it is important to identify the driving forces, internal and external dynamics that shape the growth processes of cities, and to be able to measure and define the size of urban sprawl. Located in the city of Antalya, which is strikingly affected by internal and external dynamics as a research area; "Çalkaya Urban Transformation and Development Area" has been selected, which covers all of Altıntaş and Güzelyurt Neighborhoods and parts of Hacıaliler, Mandırlar, Kemerağzı Neighborhoods. Within the scope of the research, the period between 1990 and 2018 in Antalya city macroform was examined in terms of its own dynamics. In the research area, where legal obstacles to construction in 2020 have been removed, the increase in the urban area due to post-war migration has been analyzed in the light of global effects. As a method, the mixed method, in which quantitative and qualitative researches were evaluated together, was used. With the literature review, previous studies were examined, statistical data published by institutions were obtained, in addition, with the in-depth interview method, which is one of the qualitative analysis methods, stakeholder interviews were conducted in the field and the economic and social conditions affecting the research area were determined. In this framework, using the CORINE land use data, which is one of the quantitative analysis methods, the urban growth process and form in the urban macroform and the research area were revealed, and the size of the urban growth was determined with the fractal analysis. Being the first academic study in the selected area and evaluating the spatial effects in the light of socio-economic conditions are the original aspects of this study.
