Abstract (EN)

Today printmaking has its own tradition. This research focuses on reusage of printmaking in graphic design in the age of globalization. Globalization and the Revolution of Information Technology are both needed to be analyised due to understand this rediscovery of printmaking. Technological improvements starting with the Industrial Revolution react to an untraceable level by the end of the century. The Revolution of Information Technology formed a paralel universe to humanity. As a matter of fact, all the changes bring their reactions towards. With the First Things First manifesto, this reaction had an act in graphic design scene. . A general interrogation of designers? social responsibility causes designers to also question themselves.Traditional techniques usually perceived as old and out of fashion. On the other hand, a chronological review of the twentieth century shows the improvements and adaptation of printmaking to the technological developments. These innovations relocate printmaking into fine arts but have never disappeared from the production context. At the end of the century, digital technology finds place both on the esthetical edge and technical perspective.The compromise of art and design, the need of physical existance besides virtual, artists and designers reexplored the traditional printmaking methods and combined them with new technological innovations. This study focuses on this reinvention process in mass production channels and the personal statements of designers and artists using them.
