The effects of globalisation and technology: A research about Açik Radyo, Gazzetta9 and Cep Hikayeleri broadcasting examples whitin the context of slow medi̇a

This study focuses on how speed effects media contents, producers and seeks if slow media could be an answer for the problems that speed brings. Slow media manifesto, aims to produce high quality media contents which contains news values in it and written by Benedikt Köhler, Sabrina David and Jörg Blumtritt. This manifesto, also tries to make media focus on public interest by its own criteria. To understand how those criteria and slow media concepts achieve this. Gazzetta9, Cep Hikayeleri and Açık Radyo have been choosen by purposeful sampling technic. Contents have been analyzed by texttual analysis according to slow media criteria. Additionally, to figure out that if slow media notion has any effects on producing process, semi- structured interviews have been made with the content producers of this media organisations projected as examples of slow media in Turkey. According to result of the study, technology and social media which are the fundamental reasons of speed and problems on contents, can help to improve quality in contents when content producers use them properly. Its been found that slow media criteria are adaptable for selected samples and the way the produce contents by samples are more suitable and preferable for the audiences. Its clear that media is in a financial crises with corporations and crowd funding could be the way of out of this crise and helps to create more quality contents that focuses on public welfare. Media professionals that were interviewed also prefer choosing crowd funding instead of commercial earnings. That proofs, in Turkey, it is possible to create slow media and progressive and sustainable media outlets which can be controlled by the public.
