The film "Body of Lies" in the context of globalization, terrorism and orientalism

Globalization; it is a process that has a certain purpose and actors, and affects the world in different ways politically, socially, economically and culturally by exceeding the boundaries of time and space. Therefore, globalization; terrorism, orientalism and cinema have also affected. With globalization, global terrorism emerged. Global terrorist organizations have taken advantage of globalization to carry out their activities. The September 11, 2001 attacks marked a turning point for global terrorism. Islamist terrorism has not fallen off the agenda as al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Since then, the Western view of Arab Muslims has changed. At this point, orientalism is important because, like globalization, orientalism is centered in the West and involves the West trying to make itself. Globalization has had significant effects on cinema; The relationship between globalization, terrorism and orientalism is reflected in cinema and in the film "Body of Lies". In this research, cinema acts as a social engineer within the framework of the ideologies to which it is attached, the West transforms cinema into a security apparatus in the face of terrorism, especially in relation to the American ideology, national security and defense of Hollywood cinema, the West now has surveillance of the East with mass media and motion pictures for its power, and the continuity of orientalist discourse in cinemas in relation to Body of Lies is mentioned.
