ABSTRACT Folk medicine is a field reflecting a communities life style such as their viewpoint to health, their nutritional habit and dialectical relation with nature. So the studies, condacted on folk medicine, have an important role on identifiying its ethos. In the concept of Kurdology research, the study of folk medicine is one of the factor that effects commentating the characteristic of Kurdish culture. Our area of study is determined as Hakkari, Rindik (Geçimli) village, which has protected variety of herbs and original form of Kurdish culturel values until today. The study has three main parts. In the first part, the historical origin of folk medicine is emphasised. Also, modern folk medicine, the role of women in this area and Kurdish folk medicine are stated in the same part. In the second part, herbs and practices, applied in Rindik (Geçimli) village for healing, are figured. In the third part, we handle the beliefs related to healing.
