Sibeweyh's place in Kurtubî's tafsir el-Jami' li-Ahkami'l-Qur'an

The exegesis entitled el-Câmiʿ li-ahkâmi'l-Kurʾân ve'l-mübeyyin limâ tezammenehû mine's-sünneti ve âyi'l-furkân is considered an important work in the field of Islamic sciences and demonstrates Kurtubî's profound knowledge of religion and linguistics. In this thesis, the function and reflections of Sîbeveyhi's grammatical theories in the twenty-volume exegesis titled el-Câmi- li'-Ahkâm are examined in detail. In this context, Kurtubi refers to Sîbeveyhi, one of the leading linguists of his time in terms of language and grammar, three hundred and sixty-three times, and these references have been categorised systematically according to subject headings and analysed. Some of these references are repeated in different parts of the exegesis for the same or similar issues. Sîbeveyhi's contributions, particularly regarding the rules and structure of the Arabic language, have added significant depth to Kurtubî's exegesis. In this regard, Sîbeveyhi's position in Kurtubî's exegesis has been schematised, the extent of his contribution in each field has been determined, and his influence on Islamic sciences and the Arabic language, as well as his role in the construction of meaning in Kurtubî's interpretations of verses, has been examined.
