Abstract (EN)
Today, education departments have been opened in universities, foundations and associations in almost every country of the world to use the therapeutic effect of music, and education at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels can be obtained at some universities. In Turkey, departments where music therapy methods can be learned and applied have not been opened yet, but it is seen that accredited private institutions and associations have studies on this subject. Since the practice of music treatment is not officially recognized in Turkey, this study will not be a study on music treatment methods. In this study, "Does music contribute to the treatment methods of modern medicine? " it is aimed to investigate the answer to the question, collect data and share information. A music ensemble for 6 months was established with 13 of the patients diagnosed with "Bipolar Affective Disorder" and "Schizophrenia", who were treated at the Community Mental Health Center of Aydın Kuşadası State Hospital. In the research, an experimental research model with qualitative and quantitative scope was used. In addition, the observation and interview technique of the study group consisting of doctors, psychologists and nurses was used to evaluate the research data. The interview was applied as an unstructured interview. Before the study, the Beck Anxiety Inventory and the Beck Depression Inventory were administered by the psychologist Deniz Okutan to 30 patients whose current status and symptoms were identical. Out of this group, 13 patients joined the music community, 17 patients did not. At the end of 6 months, the same scales were applied to the same 30 patients, and as a result, it was observed that there was a decrease in the depression and anxiety levels of 13 patients who joined the community and 17 patients who did not. The center's Psychiatric doctor Süleyman Gündüz reported that 13 patients who joined the community found a decrease in negative emotions and thoughts, an increase in enjoyment of life and a feeling of hope for the future, a decrease in feelings of loneliness, depression and anxiety, and an increase in self-confidence. The results of this study show us that participating in music studies increases the effectiveness of classical treatment methods.
