Effect of intergenarational differences on employee behavior

Tutku Topcu, The Effect Of Intergenarational Differences On Employee Behavior, Social Sciences Institute, Department Of Management Information Systems, Human Resources Management Master's Program With Thesis, Master Thesis, 2021 The main purpose of this study is to determine the difference between the employee behaviors of the X and Y generations, and the effect of these behaviors on organizational commitment. In the study, a model was created to examine organizational commitment and intergenerational differences. According to this model; Person-organization fit, career development, wage and organizational justice perceptions are associated with organizational commitment. In this direction, data were collected from a total of 270 individuals, 174 of whom are from the X generation and 96 from the Y generation, who are older than 18 years of age and have an active working life by survey method. The data obtained in the research were evaluated using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 program. According to the findings; While the difference in the effect of career development, wage and organizational justice perception on organizational commitment was determined between generations, it was concluded that there was a significant effect of person-organization fit on organizational commitment, but there was no intergenerational differentiation. In addition, as a result of the t test, it was determined that organizational commitment, person-organization fit, career development, wage justice and organizational justice perceptions differ according to generations. The fact that there are few studies in Turkey and that the results are mostly compatible with the literature make this study important.
