Abstract (EN)
In this study, Kutadgu Bilig, which had been written in Karahanlı Turkish in 11th century, has been analysed according to the criteria applied in textlinguistics. The study has been based on thirty five chapters and 3500 couplets in Kutadgu Bilig.The introduction part of the study discusses the characteristics of Kutadgu Bilig in order to put forth the adventures of textlinguistics from past to our day and to understand, analyse and interpret the text to be analysed better and correctly with the aim of clarifying the content and scope of the study area. In this chapter, information about the relation between author, authoring period/place, authoring reason, name and content of Kutadgu Bilig and the type of it has been given in order to prepare the text solvers to the text they are going to read.Coherence and cohesion, which set forth from the items in the text, whether body made up of sentences is a text or not, are held as two sections and sub-headings in the first and second chapter of the study respectively. Two sub-headings in the first chapter determine the linguistic items from couplets and chapters forth, which provide the referential coherence according to the criteria composed taking into consideration the structure of Turkish language. In the second sub-heading explaining the structures and words in the text, the words has been analysed according to their meanings, information on the ellipsis in the text and on the characteristics of this ellipsis has been given; and the verbs which take an important part in the integrity of the text is analysed according to tenses, aspects and modes.In the second chapter of the study, the cohesion has been analysed, which puts forward the semantic and logical relations in the text. In this chapter, the supporting of consecutive phrases the previous information has been analysed taking into consideration the conjunctions that enables the continuity in a specific meaning division, the additions, causality, comparison, contrast analysis, condition, time and definition reference that the conjunctions affiliate into the sentence. The conjunctions, prepositions and adverbs are explained as sub-headings according to logical and semantic relations they hold.At the end of the study, the definitions of the terms used in the study have been given using the Linguistic Dictionaries of different researchers in order to increase the comprehensibility of the study; and the records of books and articles used are annexed in the bibliography.Key Words1.
