Kütahya press history (1923-1980)

With the invention of the printing media, people were able to reach the news and knowledge easily. As in all the world countries, in our country printed press also played an important role in narrating the govermental processes to the people. Newspapers are crucial mass-mediaboth in Ottoman Empire period and in the period of National War of Liberation and after the proclamation of Republic of Turkey about informing of the people. We had seen as a result of the studies; in Kütahya, one of the most important witnesses of History, local newspapers had an important position in informing of people and adopting the reforms and revolutions in Republican Period. Especially,until television became widespread, newspapers were the places where people were searching solutions for their problems and necessary institutions were being criticised by the local newspapers. The newspapers Kütahya Vilayet, Demokrat Kütahya, Demokrat Kütahyanın Sesi, Türksesi and Ekspres had been analyzed between 1923-1980 contributed the development of the city in terms of political, social, cultural and economicways.
