Abstract (EN)
Kütahya is located between Eskisehir in the east, Manisa in the south west, Balikesir in the west, Bursa and Bilecik in the north. The city, which lies in the southern direction of Yellice, spreads around the castle in the historical core and east-west direction, has a rich historical background, which houses a multitude of cultures, and houses architectural monuments and urban artifacts from different periods. Because the city has a large number of architectural, historical and cultural riches together, it allows the layers of different periods of time to be intertwined with the layers of the works belonging to different time periods. Prior to the Turkish domination, the core settlement formed around the castle and its surroundings was spread outwardly through the Seljuks, Germiyanoğulları and Ottoman Empires, respectively. This area is preserved with the reconstruction plan made during the Republican period and afterwards and the settlement plan envisaged in the east-west direction without touching the historical core. This intertwining and stratification has made it possible for the community in the city to live in a tissue that contains both traditional and contemporary elements. In the spatial analysis of the city, it was aimed to compare the past and present situation of the city by making spatial analyzes of the city during the Republican period and the day-to-day with the theoretical approaches examined in the first part of the thesis. The ongoing urban transformation studies that are going on today can be considered as a continuation even if the city starts with the beginning of the Republic and continues afterwards and the city has differences in the works of reaching a contemporary view. It can be observed that restoration studies in the historical texture aim to achieve the daily values of past values. It is observed that the rapid urban transformation studies being carried out, the increase in the number of motor vehicles, the city of the city being open to deterioration and bringing it to a position that makes it difficult to perceive, also reach this historical texture. Within the scope of the thesis, it was aimed to examine these changes in chronological order in Kütahya city through the elements of Kevin Lynch's urban image, starting from the beginning of the Ottoman period and being read to the Republic and to the daytime period. The declaration of the Republic and its first years show the feature of being a ropeway for study. While analyzing pre-modern periods, it was aimed to observe concrete changes in the analysis of this turn by placing the current situation in front of the plan or photograph. The modernization movements in the past and the present urban transformation, rapid urbanization, the continuity between the modernization and the degradation and the analysis of the breakdown are important for moving the city values to the future without deterioration.
