The study area is located in the city center of Tunceli, and the Cumhuriyet District, Alibaba District, Mameki Bridge, Djemevi surroundings, hospital junction and Kavşak hill location, which are connected to the center, constitute the study areas. The formations in the Tunceli city center study area; Permian aged Karşılar Formation, Paleocene-Eocene aged Tunceli Formation, Miocene aged Kocakoç Formation, Miocene-Pliocene aged Mazgirt Volcanics, Quaternary clastic deposits and carbonate spring deposits (travertine/tufa). Clastic deposits (conglomerate and sandstones) and tufa/travertine deposits belonging to Munzur and Pülümür rivers are laterally and vertically related. A total of 9 stratigraphic sections were measured from the unconsolidated clastic deposits where facies are well observed. As a result of sedimentological studies, 6 facies and 1 facies association were defined. Facies: Massive conglomerates, stratified conglomerates, planar cross-bedded conglomerates, planar cross-bedded sandstones, massive sandstone and red mudstones.Facies association; braided river facies association. The source of the granite and diorite pebbles observed as a result of the pebble analysis in the conglomerates is the Elazig magmatites outcropping in the north of Ovacık district, the origin of the marble pebbles is the Karşılar Formation, the origin of the andesite and basalt pebbles is Mazgirt volcanics, the limestone, sandstone and siltstone pebbles are the Tunceli Formation. According to the field observations and paleoflow direction data obtained, the junction point of Munzur and Pülümür Rivers has moved from NW to SE. According to XRD mineralogical analysis results, unconsolidated sandstones has been defined as litharenite, sublitharenite and feldspathic litharenite. As a result of the comparison of some trace element ratios sensitive to the identification of source rocks with the average igneous rock compositions, it was determined that the sandstones were close to the average andesite and, to a lesser extent, basalt composition. In the Th/Sc - Eu/Eu* binary diagram, the sandstone samples showed a clustering close to the average composition between basalt and andesite. In the triangular diagrams (La-Th-Sc, Th-Co-Zr/10 and Th-Sc-Zr/10) used to determine the paleotectonic environment, the data in this study and the sample mean correspond to the "Ocean Island Arc" region.
