Abstract (EN)

In this study, the Northern Erzincan township and its villages, which were administratively divided into a part within the borders of Erzincan in the Ottoman Empire, were examined in the historical process. The geographies of the places where the villages were established were examined and analyzed one by one. As a result of this analysis, the villages were divided into three according to the place where they were established; Villages built on mountains and slopes, villages built on the edge of water sources and villages built on plains. In the study, a research was also conducted on the origins of the names of the villages. Village names are divided into four according to the way they are named; We can classify the villages that take their name from the place where they are located. villages that take their names from their founders, villages that take their names from the Turkmen tribe and community in which they are located. and finally villages that take their name from the Turkish culture and tradition. Population movements in the villages were examined between 1516 and 1835, and their demographic structures were tabulated. Events in villages, such as the construction of a mosque and its opening ceremony, a marriage or inheritance, were also examined in the study.
