Some testis characteristic in Kıvırcık male lambs

SUMMARY This study was conducted on Kıvırcık Male Lambs whose number according to age periods and which were maintained on the experiment Farm of Department of Animal Science, University of Adnan Menderes. The results as follows; 1. The right and left testis lengths were measured 6.79±.17 cm and 6.18±0.23 cm; 8.13±0.26 cm and 8.10±0.29 cm; 9.09± 0.27 cm and 9.32±0.25 cm; 10.37±0.21 cm and 10.22±0.23 cm; 10.58±0.36 cm and 10.49±0.33 cm; 12.79±0.31 cm and 12.52±0.35 cm; 13.60±0.36 cm and 13.36±0.34 cm in 110, 140, 150,1 80, 210, 230, 260 days old groups respectively. 2. The right and left testis diameters were determined 3.06±0.10 cm and 3.10± 0.10 cm; 3.95±0.15 cm and 3.81±0.14 cm; 4.24±0.14 cm and 4.17±0.11cm; 4.32±0.10 cm and 4.08±0.11 cm; 4.34*0.15 cm and 4.17±0.13 cm; 4.89±0.14 cm and 4.72±0.15 cm; 5.22±0.15 cm and 5 08±0.13 cm at the same old groups respectively. 3. Scrotal lengths were found 15.11±0.35 cm, 16.70±0.32 cm, 18.35±0.43 cm in 210, 230, 260 days old groups respectively. 4. Scrotal circumferences were found 24.91±0.60 cm, 26.94±0.52 cm, 29.08±0.85 cm at the same old groups respectively. 5. The effects of body weight and age are important on the all testis traits. 6. it should be studied on the testis characteristics determined in early ages and easily, and showed as little as possible measuring error. İn addition, if characteristics were associated with direct selection characteristics genetic evoluation can be improved.
