Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out between 2005 and 2019 with 84 head rams, 787 sheep and 2986 head lambs of Kıvırcık sheep breed. The growth traits of lambs, daily live weight gain, surviveral tarits, as well as fertility and gestation period of sheep and genetic characteristics which related to growth traits were investigated in the study. Live weights of growth traits in various periods; birth, weaning (90 days), 6 months and one age weight, were 3.94±0.013, 26.62±0.116, 34.65±0.235 and 44.10±0.290 kg, respectively; while the average daily live weight gain between birth and weaning (90 days) was 251.14±1.216 g/day, the survival rate until weaning was 92% for Kıvırcık sheep breed. The fertility traits for Kıvırcık sheep determined; 79.35% for birth rate, 0.99 for fecundity and 1.24 for litter size, the average gestation period was 148.34±0.042 days. BLUP estimates for genetic parameters and variance components in terms of growth traits of Kıvırcık sheep breed in various periods were estimated with SAS and MTDFREML package programs. The heritabilities obtained from these analyzes for birth weight, maternal birth weight, daily live weight gain, weaning weight, 6 month live weight and 1 year live weight were 0.31, 0.21, 0.16, 0.16, 0.15 and 0.14, respectively. Additive genetic correlations between growth traits were changed between 0.03 and 1.00. On the other hand, phenotypic and genetic tendency were determined positive and significiantly over the years.
