Investigation of visual landscape quality in the coastal area: The case of İstanbul- Kisirkaya

Coastal areas are sensitive landscape due to their ecological characteristics and cultural values. In this thesis study, Kısırkaya Village, which is a rural settlement on the Black Sea coast of Sarıyer District of İstanbul province, was chosen as the research area. The purpose of the research; It is the definition of attractive areas in terms of visual landscape evaluation by examining the coastal region and its immediate surroundings of Kısırkaya Village in line with various variables. In addition, the areas were evaluated in terms of visual quality. For the visual landscape quality analysis of Kısırkaya Village and coastal region, 8 different visual landscape areas were defined as general silhouette, semi-natural landscape, sea landscape, sea landscape, rural landscape, natural areas, agricultural landscape, road landscape, cultural landscape. A total of 9 parameters were selected as visual landscape quality parameters : naturalness, scenic beauty, recreational value, care, trust, openness, order, harmony and diversty. With visual landscape quality assessment of 2 parts was applied to 50 experts interactively with the help of the "Google Survey" program. In the first part of the survey, experts determined the photograph that best represents the landscape character among 32 photograps representing 8 visual landscape areas, 4 of which are for each visual landscape area in Kısırkaya Village. In the second part of the survey ; experts made evaluations according to the visual quality parameters of each visual landscape area. In the visual landscape character analysis of the coastal area of Kısırkaya Village, it was concluded that the landscape value and naturalness of the area is high, but there is a problem of maintenance, trust and order in the landscape areas, and suggestions have been developed that allow the sustainable development of rural landscapes and can contribute to recreation and tourism.
