Art of kıyafet, kıyafet-nameler in Turkish literature in Kıyafet-name of Şa'bân-ı Sivrihisârî (Transcribed text analysis)

In this study we mentioned the art of physiognomy and (kıyafet nameler) which have an important place in the history of Turkish and Islam culture and taken up by a great many poets and writers in years, and we constitude our study into five parts.The first part of our study is about the art of physiognomy.In this part, the art of physiognomy is taken up by whole sides, and because of the art of physiognomy take place as a part in the art of firaset; firstly the art of firaset is introducedand it take into two parts as Judicial and Şeria firaset.After giving information about Judicial and Şeria firaset, the Şeria Firaset seperate into three category as siyaset, rifayet and kıyafet and after giving information about these parts we give information about the basic topic of the art of physiognomy and the term which is about this art.According to this, the art which gives information about the personality of people by looking their face and body shape is 'Kıyafet' and we say 'Kaif' who is busy with that art and 'Kıyafet-name ' is a general name given to work which take this art as a topic.The second part of our study is about the topic of 'Kıyafet-nameler' in Turk-Islam literature.Because firstly the Arabian are interested in this art in Islamic world, in the Arabic literature.It is given information about the importance of this art, and mentioned some basic 'Kıyafetnames'. Because of after Arabian , the other nation who interested in this art is Persian, some of the kıyafetname in Persian literature , is introduced and in Turkish literature the background of this art and the work which is written in this side is taken in detail.Also, in this part, it is dwelled on the four known kıyafetname' stype speciality in Turkish literature and with some means the relation of personality is transfered.The third part of our study is the effect of this art to our literature, social life, and other arts.Both in East and West this art penetrate into great part of life.Especially, in the East Society this art is used in finding race, determining the children who are illegitimate or are borned from female slave.Related to Nationalization and passing to palace life, it is benefited from this art in choosing people who will enter the Military Service and Stete organization and buying slave and female slave and in low.In the last periods, this art influence the art's lots of side from art to literature,education to law, physcology to medicine.In the fourth part Şaban-ı Sivrihisari's life and work is studied.As there is no information about the life of the writer in the source it is clarified by the information got from the work.In the study about the work it is dwelled on the presentation of work's copy, the speciality of the written verse, language and expression and differences between other kıyafet-names and content.In the fifth part of our study which is the last part is about Şaban-ı Sivrihisari's kıyafet-name and the works whole text with transcript is given. The work's Arabic introduction part, Arabic and Persian poets translations are given as a footnot under the text.In this part with the basic part of the work which consist of nine articles and preface there is a treatise about ?İlm-i Hutut? and at the end a written verse Kıyafetname is taken place.In addition to these five parts, in the first section an introduction, abridgments, transcript signs, in the last section a conclusion, dictionary, bibliography and the kıyafetname's original text which is in Nuruosmaniye Library No: 4099 are taken place.
