Analsying the attitudes of the students of girls' vocational school clothing production techonologies department to their department

Occupational education is continuously changing and developing in parallel with the changing conditions of world. Therefore, it is very important to create new education circumstances, to choose the appropriate materials and methods to provide effective learning of courses, and to identify and define the interests, attitudes, and needs of students when restructuring continuously developing education programs. Maturity of student, her level of readiness, her interests and needs, and attitudes and values have a positive effect on the process of making the students ready for learning. The attitudes are in relation with overcoming and controlling the emotions which arise during process of learning and they have an important role in directing human behaviors. It directly affects the process of learning and forms the future life of individuals whether the attitudes arising in connection with a value and belief system are positive or negative.The purpose of this research is analysing Girls? Vocational School Clothing Department stundents? attitudes to their departments. The variables which may affect the students? attitudes were examined by the districts, their classes, educational background of their fathers, educational background of their mothers, and their household income. The attitudes of students to the courses on their field were examined by applying a general screening model based on survey study.The sampling of research comprised of 357 students, 169 of which were attended in the 10th grade, 121 in the 11th grade, and 67 in the 12th grade in 9 Girls Technical and Occupational High Schools in the central districts of Ankara, i.e. Cankaya, Altindag, Mamak, and Kecioren. The schools were selected by applying the method of neutral appointment (random sampling). The questionnaire, which contained the questions about demographical information and the attitude scales, was comprised of 52 questions in total. The questionnaire was first applied Keçiören and Altındağ district schools to a student group of 100 people to make the reliability and validity analysis of scaling tool and necessary corrections were completed before the survey application. Frequency (f) and percent (%) values were used in the analysis of data and t-test and one-sided variant analysis (Anova) were applied. The results were tabled.Which generates Vocational Girls? High SchoolClothing Production Technologies Department 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students of Girls Technical and Occupational High School, Field of Cloth Production Technology to their departments were moderate in general. The average of the attitudes to the course of ?sewing dress and production? was found to be higher than the courses of ?Fundamental Art Education, Model Development, and Cloth Technical Drawing?. The attitude to the course of "Preparation of Cloth Pattern? was found to be at the lowest level. It was found that the attitudes to the course of ?sewing dress and production? are affected by the differences in the educational background of father, and that the attitudes to the course of the "Preparation of Cloth Pattern" are affected by the grades. A significant difference was found between the attitudes of the students to the field courses by their household income and reasons to prefer their departments. In line with these results, the researcher submitted several recommendations.
