Abstract (EN)

This research has been conducted in order to find out the stratigraphic and structural properties of the Neogene units in the area that involves the villages in Degirmisaz-Kizilbuk, Kutahya. On the study area, the Dagardi Upper Cretaceous Aged Melange constitutes the basement rock units; on top of it there is the Tasbasi formation that consists of Lower-Middle Miocene aged conglomerate, clay and marl; on top of it there is the Kizilbuk formation that consists of Middle-Upper Miocene aged carbonaceous mid-level marl, clay and conglomerate. The stratigraphic sequence ends with alluvium that consists of loose material with the size of conglomerate, sand, clay that belongs to the Quaternary. In the study area; the Degirmisaz basin, which intersects the Middle-Upper Miocene aged Kizilbuk formation and where the NE-SW trending strike slip faults are dominant, is identified. This basin is a closed basin that is limited with faults and identified with observable contacts. While the characteristics of the faults that are present in the area are mostly strike slip faults; normal faults have also been observed. Inside the Kizilbuk formation; the presence of open synclinal folds that have approximately NE-SW trending axes, has been observed and in this case it indicates compressive tectonic. During the time period from the Upper Miocene up to the Quaternary, when the faulting continued; the alluvium and the faults have been associated with each other in the NE-SW trending Degirmisaz basin. The bedding slope of the Neogene aged rock units differ in the Kizilbuk formation; whereas, it has been observed as south east in the Tasbasi formation. According to the rose diagrams that have been formed in terms of the direction of the slope, the amount of the slope and the strike values, it has been seen that the general slope direction is intensified towards the NW and SE direction.
