Abstract (EN)
In this study 1+0 aged seedlings of Anatolian black pine and Lebanon cedarseedlings, produced in Kızılcahamam Forest Nursery were used. It was aimed inthis study that whether curling had occurred in the roots or not, anddetermining staying period of seedlings in the containers of type enso bydetermining compacting condition periodically after the end of vegetationperiod by determining the morphological characteristics of the seedlings, andcomparing them according to the norms of TSE, and also observing theperiodical growth of roots.According to the results obtained from this study; root collar diameter showedvariation between the values of 2.57 mm and 4.59 mm in black pine seedlingswhile seedling height values were between 8.10 cm and 18.50 cm, in cedarseedlings, root collar diameter showed variation between the values of 2.61 mmand 5.01 mm while seedling height values were between 11.2 and 24.2 in cedarseedlings. With these values it is determined that black pine and cedar seedlingswere of type first quality class in terms of seedling height and root collardiameter. When compacting conditions were analyzed, it was observed that acompacting condition had occurred in black pine and cedar seedlings datingfrom September, and the root growth of black pine seedlings, if compared with6cedar seedlings, had taken such the form that they filled completely the fillingmaterial of the container and blocked the material from dispersing. Theperiodical root curling for black pine seedlings began dating from September, but for cedar seedlings it began dating from the end of August, and for bothtypes it increased towards the end of vegetation. In case of keeping the seedlingsin enso type containers for one more vegetation period, it was confirmed thatthe root curling increased at the threatening level of planting success.Science code : 502.01.02Key Words : Seedling, Morphological characteristic, AnatolianBlack Pine, Lebanon Cedar, Type of containers, RootcurlingPage number : 91Thesis Advisor : Asist.
