Effects of l-arginine loading on aerobic and anaerobic capacity to young football players

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of l-arginine loading (4x2 gr per day for 6 days ) on aerobic and anaerobic capacity to young players. ?n this study, 26 volunteer male players of Boluspor young football teams whose mean age is 16,65 + 1.29 years old, participated. The aerobic power values of subject were determined by using the Beep Test, anaerobic power values of subject were determined by using Rast Test. After initial measurement, subjects were randomly divided in to three groups of l-arginine, placebo and control groups. L-arginine group was given 4x2 gr. on a daily of L-arginine matter. Similarly, placebo group received the same amount of placebo matter. The end of the study, showed that aerobic and anaerobic power of l-arginine group increased significantly from (p<0,05) (aerobic power; 46,07 + 5,12 ml/kg/min to 50,96 + 2,18ml/kg/min; anaerobic power; 410,44 + 56,93 watt to 456,00 + 49,34 watt). Placebo group increased significantly from (p<0,05) (aerobic power; 43,72 + 4,30 ml/kg/min to 48,65 + 3,22 ml/kg/min; anaerobic power; 363,12 + 62,30 watt to 383,37 + 58,13 watt). Control group increased significantly from (p<0,05) (aerobic power; 43,75 + 4,60 ml/kg/min to 49,76 + 3,70 ml/kg/dk; anaerobic power 377,44 + 64,09 watt to 400,22 + 59,27 watt). Also, body weight values of the subjects did not change there weren?t significantly in every three groups.(p>0,05) Key words: L-arginine, anaerobic power, aerobic power and weight
