Abstract (EN)
In the establishments where continuous filament yarn production is made, the production line covers a fairly large space and the production continues non-stop all day long. Because of these reasons stated above, during the production activities it is pretty demanding to R&D and P&D studies. In the view of this disadvantageous case, a doctorate thesis called "Design and Manufacture of Laboratory Type Filament Yarn Machine and Development of Original Product" was carried out, and with this study it was aimed to do continuous and systematic researches towards filament yarns. Thus, this study has two stages. The first one is the study of design, improving and manufacturing of lab-type filament yarn production machinery and the second one is the study of original product development done in the manufactured machinery. In the scope of the first stage of the study, the first proto-type of the produced lab-type filament yarn was established in the Filament Yarn Production Laboratory of Textile Engineering Department at Çukurova University. In the second stage of the study, the flame retardant substance by being added to the polypropylene raw material in the form of chips in different ratios, continuous filament yarns were produced. Later on, both mechanical and original properties of these products were examined. As a result, it was seen that the increase in the amount of the flame retardant substance improved the properties of the flame retardant yarns. In addition to this, the tests such as tenacity, breaking elongation, the ratio of crystallinity region,SEM analysis, EDX analysis, etc. were applied to the mentioned continuous filament yarn and the results obtained from these were interpreted.
