A study on the detection of some virulance genes in Lactococcus garvieae

Abstract (EN)
This aim of this study is to identify Lactococcus garvieae strains at the phenotypic and molecular level to determine whether some virulence genes are present in the strains. The PLG and the SA1B10 primer pairs werw used in the identification of the 10 L. garvieae strains using PCR technique. Surface proteins containing adhesin Pav (adhPav), adhesin PsaA (adhPsaA), LPXTG-containing 1-2-3-4 (LPXTG-1, LPXTG-2, LPXTG-3, LPXTG-4), hemolysin 1-2-3 (hlyI, hlyII, hlyIII) genes, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and fibronectin-binding protein (fbp) genes were used. In addition to the detection of virülence genes, antimicrobial sensivity of the strains was also investigated. According to the antibiogram tast results, all strains werw found to be oxacillin resistant but sensitive to enrofloxacin. The susceptibility and resistance of the strains to other antibiotics except oxacillin and enrofloxacin varied according to the strains. It was determined that all L. garvieae strains used in the study carried hemolysin 1-2-3 (hlyI, hlyII, hlyIII) genes, adhesin Pav (adhPav) and adhesin PsaA (adhPsaA) genes. Some strains werw not detected LPXTG-1, LPXTG-3, hlyI, SOD and fbp genes while not all strains were found to carry the LPXTG-2 and LPXTG-4 genes.
